Isuzu's winning project is centred around a comprehensive digital transformation under the Isuzu Monozukuri principle, emphasising data analytics, automation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). This initiative aims to ensure zero-mistake operations by implementing real-time quality audit management, inline inspections, and torque management. The use of big data analytics for predictive and preventive analyses, allows precise monitoring of over 200 suppliers and efficient management of the production process. Utilisation of digital tools help provide centralised data monitoring, while mobile devices and IoT elements facilitate detailed product traceability and quality control. This transformation has reduced manual work, improved administrative efficiency by 25%, and achieved a 99.8% product quality standard. Founded in 1974, Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) is a key player in Indonesia’s automotive industry, serving as the sole agent, manufacturer, and distributor of Isuzu vehicles.

Pertamina's winning project focuses on sustaining national energy resilience. To address misuse and fraud in subsidised fuel distribution, Pertamina launched the INOVASI platform, powered by big data analytics and AI. The platform processes around 15 million fuel transactions daily, using custom rules and AI techniques like news sentiment analysis to detect anomalies. This has prevented approximately 3.5 million litres of subsidised fuel fraud daily. INOVASI's data and AI capabilities also optimises solar panel performance and upstream oil well operations, supporting Pertamina's strategy of maintaining its business legacy while advancing a low-carbon future. Pertamina, established in 1957, is Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas corporation with US $75.9 billion in revenue. It plays a crucial role in the country's energy sector, not only in the extraction and production of oil and gas but also in the development of new and renewable energy sources.

During (digital) transformation, we realised that we have to change the way people think about data. So 4-5 years ago, we developed the data infrastructure, and also the capability of the people - we trained the people, from the engineers that are now based in each department, and also development capabilities along with the infrastructure. It is not the end right now, but the results 4 years on from the digital transformation include… from power generation, which is one of the biggest parts of PLN, also (saw) increase of 1-2% of cost efficiency

WHAT PARTICIPANTS

ARE SAYING

Ari Rahmat Indra Cahyadi, President Director,
PT PLN ICON Plus

Information from all those points (plants, packing plants, retailers) is actually very important. The most important thing is if we have visibility end to end in our ecosystem, that will be very beneficial for (understanding what we are facing) in smart industry, innovation. We are a market leader right now, but competition is increasing, market demand is unpredictable right now, and there's also an internal cost push. So we need to gather as much data as we can. Previously we didn't have any visibility on how sales are, but now we are able to optimise by focusing on the data and the information we get. We are also able to provide information to management and stakeholders.

Anindio Daneswara, Senior Vice President - Group Head of ICT,
Semen Indonesia

We are going to continue with this digital transformation by accelerating it. We have this initiative, digital factory, where we really deliver three different digital solutions - digital intensive solution, data intensive solution and analytics intensive solution. This digital factory will not be led by the product owner, which is coming from the business, they will come from their domain, upstream, midstream, downstream and even from renewable energy. Working with this factory to deliver a solution and value is the target. So again, not focusing on the cost to drive a solution, but on what will be the impact of the value that will be coming from the solution.

Sigit Pratopo, SVP Integrated Enterprise Data and Command Center, Pertamina

One of the things that we see a gap is the amount of effort that we have to put in, in order for us to get the requirements and also to implement it to the point where we start to use it and test it out, all the way to the deployment of our users. So that part becomes a lengthy process, and there's no way of returning because of our waterfall model. That's when we decided that the agile methodology is the one that we are looking into.

Abby Sie, Head of Line of Business Portfolios, ICT, Sarawak Energy

The problem is the speed of the development, because the requirement is very, very fast. We need to develop it within this platform. We need to develop it with these certain policies. We need to develop it, of course, with the correct documentation. Those things are important, because you need to be able to develop it and put it into operation as soon as possible.

Benedict Sulaiman, Vice President Information Technology, Director,
PT. Affinity Health Indonesia

The only way that we can do this is to digitise it using AI, so that we can try to have new opportunities. So the technology in here is not to replace the people, but specifically to amplify the human potential and how we can scale our reach. So the people will go together with the HR department or the people and culture (department), to upskill the capabilities. In Sampoerna, we are committed to make sure that all of the employees, no matter their level in the organisation, have the right tools and right capabilities to drive this digital, augmented environment.

Ephraim Gunawan,
Head of IT,
HM Sampoerna

We, as a bank, also have legacy systems. Our core banking systems are legacy systems. You cannot build that from an agile point of view. So we're kind of ambidextrous or like a dual work organisation, whereby the front end application can be developed in an agile way, and the back end system has to develop in the waterfall way. And that's okay. The most important thing, I know it's easy to say, it's governance.

Altona Widjaja, Head of Digital and Payment Solutions,

OCBC Indonesia

Technology plays a crucial role in reducing production costs, which is key to business sustainability and maintaining competitiveness. By digitizing processes and analyzing data, we can use historical data to develop AI that optimizes energy consumption and detects abnormalities before breakdowns occur. This approach helps reduce downtime, increase productivity, improve quality, and ultimately boost profitability.

Yusak Kristian Solaeman, President Director,

Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia

There are two (key) indicators. One is, when a ship comes to the port, how long does it stay to unload and load the goods? Number two, when they load the goods, how long will the content of the cargo stay in the port? There are two in our control. And number three, this is very important to the ecosystem, because logistics is actually a long chain. How easy is it for the ecosystem to (gain) visibility (of activity) and interact with the port.

We cannot achieve this impact by only installing applications, because in the B2B sector like us, it's actually the process… we have a mantra -  standardise first, digitalise later, and then integrate. So I think that is unique in this industry.

Natal Iman Ginting,

CEO,
PT ILCS (Pelindo Solusi Digital)

A lot of ideas come from the employees, bottom up, and we facilitate that with innovation management for it to be implemented. Not all ideas come from our management, it’s from everywhere. We have a hackathon internally, and then we also have an idea box to gather a lot of ideas which employees can submit online. We set up a management team to select and then align it with the corporate strategy. In the future, we dream of having a lot of innovations that can gather or can generate revenue as well, from our bottom up initiative.

Sigit Prihatmoko, Head of Corporate Innovation Center Department,
Bank Negara Indonesia

Using the philosophy that we use within Maybank, that we start from our customer first, one of the things that we see is that hyper personalisation will play a more and more important role, in the sense that consumers want to be served based on what their individual needs. In order for banks to serve that and actually, it's not only banks, but also in other industries as well, in my view, we need to have the capability to get that insight through data. That's why, when you see things around you, like data analytics, AI is becoming more and more hot at this moment. It is because they can provide or they can support banks to have that capability.

Charles Budiman,
Chief Digital Officer,
Maybank Indonesia

Everybody talks about Gen AI, specifically, my team is involved with the strategy and a bit of research, so we use this gen AI as a proxy. Because if you want to conduct a survey, in the past, we might gather survey respondents, and then we might also have to spend some budget for the gimmicks so the respondents would answer correctly. But if you want to do it more agile, with more speed, we use Gen AI, be it Gemini, Chat GPT, or the co-pilot from Azure, we give them the prompting. So let's say I want you to be a student at this age with this background profile, I want you to be the first entrance to the workforce, I want you to be an SME owner. And with that kind of profiling, we ask Gen AI, and the responses would be different. This serves as a good proxy before we actually ask the real customers.

Minnarto Djojo,
Retail Banking Business Management Division Head,
OCBC NISP

We are going to focus on simplification to make it easier for the people, especially in West Java, to access all public public services in a single application… (There are situations where) the people find it really difficult (and confusing) to access services, because there were a lot of applications and websites. But nowadays, we have the super app “?”, and also the integrated portal, the website. So all the services that we have are integrated into one portal and also into one super app, not all services have been integrated, but the progress is there, as we try our best to make all the services that we have into one single app.

Secretary of ICT,
West Java Province

For example, during COVID-19, everyone needed the connectivity to do many things, for school, for business, for work. Based on the data that we get, from the customer,... the peak time to use the internet is from 9 to 11 in the morning, and also from 4-6 in the afternoon. What is the fit for this data? Telkom Indonesia will enhance the capacity of the network during this peak period so we can deliver excellent service to the customer.
